Tavis Smiley, longtime host of the “Tavis Smiley” show on PBS has had his show suspended by distributor PBS on Wed. 12-13-17 because of an investigation into allegations of sexual misconduct with numerous “subordinates” as reported by “Variety”. Tavis Smiley denies the allegations and says the relationships were consensual and were with “colleagues”.
Michael Imhotep founder of The African History Network and host of The African History Network on 12-14-17 breaks down this story and the rash of men who have found themselves in hot water recently because of sexual harassment allegations.
Tavis Smiley responded on Facebook on Dec. 13th, 2017 and vowed to fight back stating as reported by TheRoot.com:
“I have the utmost respect for women and celebrate the courage of those who have come forth to tell their truth,” Smiley said in a statement released on Facebook after the suspension was announced. “To be clear, I have never groped, coerced or exposed myself inappropriately to any workplace colleague in my entire broadcast career, covering six networks over 30 years.
“This has gone too far. And I, for one, intend to fight back,” he added.
